Santa cruz, first american experience
Dag 1
The first day I arrived, I got picked up by a friend, with whom I went to Waynard. Later the same night I went to an bar. There where only mexicans and a mexican band. Had a lot of fun the mexican way.
Day 2.
We went back again to the airport, for me to meet up with a few other voulenteers. After we all arrived, we went to our house in Santa Cruz. After I was done with my suitcase, I went with an German friend to an Irish pub where we met a lot of new people.
Day 3
We had a meeting with together, and bought some camping equipment.Where I also played for the first time with a 12 gauge shotgun. The rest off the day we spend at the beach hanging out. And later we went out.
The rest of the days we spend hanging out ánd checking Santa Cruz.
First Project: The Los Padres National Forest and the Ventana.
We left with a few people early morning with a van to Ventana.It was a 3 hour drive, then with all our camping stuff hiking 2,5 mijls down the mountain. We camped right next to a Redwood tree. Next day we had to hike up and down again for the rest of our stuff. Gettin a breake and hiked more down to start work. The rest of trail was 5 mijls long, but we only had to fixed the half. It was our job, to make the trail walkable for other hikers. It was a fun experience, but a lot of hard work and a lot of hiking every day. We had campfire every day, and every day nice views. We had to filter our own water with a pomp, and poop outside we made a hole.
After we were done we left in the morning for the 5 mijl hike down.
After we arrived back we cleaned our stuff first, like the van. After that we all took long showers, because we didnt had one for 8 days. When we where done we all went to an chinese restaurant to eat and drinks.
My next project will be a month long on Catalina island of the coast of LA.
